Shibobo or Chiboko?

If my memory serves me right shibobo used to be the most anticipated event of the year at MAP. Teams such as Azzuri and Legends used to showcase real talent and a thirst to play. All stars came and tried to mimic the outfits but they soon died out. So what really happened? Do you know? Am not sure but what I can tell you is that the current teams play no different to some of the Sunday teams in the loxion (streets)! These kids play like a bunch of chibuku drinkers rather than the real shibobo diski that we know! No offence, but I personally feel that such teams should not feature in the tournament. Where is the youth? Are we now becoming a coconut school with nothing that makes us unique? Basketball is long gone, shibobo should be our last hope not chiboko!

MAP Seniors Vs Amagents

The senior football team locked horns with Amagents U19 a day before the mid-term break. They lost 0-1 but they played like the winning side! The team showed great courage and grace with their passing and marking, though they are still to showcase their flair and team chemistry, it looks like Mr Laverick is investing quite handsomely in grooming them for the upcoming ISSA tournament. Should we wait in anticipation for a trophy? Or will it be a trophy less year like 2010! I don’t know you tell me? Watch this space...

Slowly, Steadily and Confidently

Football is fast becoming the number one sports code in Maru-a-Pula. This is not one of my usually controversial articles, but, put simply, football is becoming the most liked sport in M-A-P. You might not share this sentiment but the truth is, basketball’s popularity has taken a nose dive and so is the conquerors’.
This leaves Mr Laverick’s nameless outfits as the last men standing when it comes to popularity in school. Basketball might fly from here to Turkey or Durban; all the good opportunities, but it will cost Mr Nkala an arm and a leg to restore the pride of the Eagles. As for the football team, keep it up gents, the spirit is good and the game play is improving. Make it happen, you owe it to yourselves!
